Luzenac presents its upgraded Mistron® product range for automotive applications at K2004

Luzenac will be presenting its upgraded Mistron® ultrafine talc range at the K2004 trade fair in October.

Mistron® talcs provide rubber compounders with a unique combination of characteristics in the field of semi-reinforcing mineral fillers for extruded and moulded parts.

Their lamellar structure acts as an internal lubricant and enables relatively low viscosities to be attained even at high loading levels and with low plasticizer content.

The processability of Mistron® products is perfectly suited to the extrusion of profiles and moulding of components, in that they give high outputs combined with very little wear of metal parts due to their non abrasivity.

The level of reinforcement obtained with these new talcs attests to the excellent chemical compatibility between filler and elastomer. Moreover, with an appropriate surface treatment, very high levels of compression and elongation resistance can be obtained.

For automotive exterior parts, these talcs act as a barrier that limits the migration of by products to the surface of the parts, preventing discoloration or "blooming". The combination of these talcs with carbon black reduces the conductivity of the automotive profiles significantly, solving the problem of electro-corrosion.

In peroxide cured EPDM for hoses, these ultrafine Mistron® talcs improve toughness and durability of rubber goods by significantly improving the cut/tear resistance of carbon black reinforced rubber.

In the tyre inner liner, the partial substitution of carbon black results in a significant reduction of the permeability giving the possibility to decrease the thickness of the liner therefore the weight of the tyre for a better rolling resistance.
