Scope
Luzenac views HSEC in a wide sense and its scope embraces environment, occupational health and safety, product safety, community relations, risk assessment and management, as well as exploring what sustainable development means for the business.
The scope of HSEC not only covers existing operations, but the planning and implementation of new projects. There is board level responsibility for policy and performance and for ensuring that our HSEC programs are focused on key issues, for now and for the future.
The Group currently has its production operations in two major trading blocks: the European Union (EU) and North American Free Trade Area (NAFTA). There are many differences in the legislative and regulatory systems between these and cultural differences too. Our policies and guidelines are tailored to take account of these differences but are linked by the common Luzenac approach as expressed in the Code of Conduct for Ethical Business Behavior.
All our sites operate formal management systems for Safety, Occupational Health and Environment. We regard community relations as a very local matter, but local management operates within the framework of "developing and maintaining mutual trust through constant communication".

All Luzenac sites are compliant to ISO 14001 standards. This means that all our operations are now managing environment-related matters in a manner that is planned, controlled, monitored and recorded in compliance with an internationally acknowledged Environmental Management System.
